PRINCIPAL | Geriatric Care Manager

Lauren Austin, MSW, JD

I am the principal of Personalized Aging Services, Inc., which I started in 2017. I have been a Geriatric Care Manager since 2011. I have my Master’s Degree in Social Work, and I am licensed to practice law in California. My skills as an attorney taught me to be a strong advocate for others, while my social work education and experience serves to enhance my ability to develop trusting and supportive relationships with my clients. 

I am also the co-author of the book Love, Loss and Dementia, which was written with Holly Gershbein, who has been my best friend since childhood.  The book explores the many challenges that we each faced in becoming long-distance caregivers for our respective mothers, who both developed dementia.  Our goal in writing the book was to provide comfort, support and guidance to others who find themselves in similar situations, and, most importantly, to let them know that they are not alone.

I have developed the curriculum for a course entitled "What is a Senior Care Manager and Why Should You Care?", which I currently teach at the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute through the Continuing Education program at the University of North Florida.
